About the Center for Real Estate

The University of Connecticut Center for Real Estate was established by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1965. The Center is a research and educational center within the University of Connecticut’s School of Business. It focuses on real estate education, research, and outreach to the industry. The center provides academic programs, conducts research on real estate markets and trends, offers networking opportunities for students and professionals, and hosts events and conferences related to real estate. It aims to prepare students for careers in real estate and to serve as a resource for the real estate industry.

Missions

Research: to conduct and publish academic and professional real estate research

Teaching: to support the School of Business real estate teaching efforts at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels

Service: to serve as a resource to the Connecticut Real Estate Commission and to the Connecticut real estate professionals’ community

Academics

Students at the University of Connecticut have a variety of educational offerings available to them, including a Real Estate Major, Real Estate Minor, and course offerings within Graduate programs.

The UConn Center for Real Estate and real estate program continue to rank highly for Real Estate Research. In the most recent Ranking by ARES published in the Journal of Real Estate Literature, UConn was ranked #3 in the world. In September 2023, U.S. News and World Report rankings of undergraduate programs, Real Estate at UConn ranks #12 in the Nation.

Events

Throughout the academic year, the Center holds various events for students, alumni, and industry professionals to network. The annual golf tournament and awards banquet, as well as various trips to nearby cities like New York and Boston are great opportunities for students to see the real estate community come together.

Students also benefit from having professionals speak about their journeys and experiences in the industry during classes and at Real Estate society meetings.
